Carolyn's Suits

In addition to her wedding suit, Carolyn also had a tailor made suit from the early sixties in a nubby salmon plaid wool. I didn't paint the plaid! Very Jackie Kennedy!

Carolyn's Wedding Suit

A visitor at my studio open house saw the garments I'd been working on and asked if I'd like to paint her wedding suit that she'd purchased in 1952 and was still hanging on her spare room closet door. It was a Davidov design purchased at a grand old store (Young Quinlan). It's soft wool tweed with classic detailing.

Smartly attired

I'm still drawn to the store fronts, manikins, haberdashery windows. This one was from Italy.

A traditional market street in Bologna. We wished we were staying long enough to shop  and cook there.

Bologna Street Market

video
Thought I'd  try a little demo on this 8 x 8 study that just might end up as a larger piece some time down the road. I liked the piles of crates and sun streaming down this narrow street in Bologna, Italy.

The leftist cafe

My Italian friend Maria Rosa pointed out the leftist cafe, a local institution. Loved the dalmation! It was shortly before the election so we found lots of Obama support on our trip.
